SLA batteries have a low self-discharge rate of around 40% per year or 3.3% per month. They can be stored without charging for up to 5-6 months when at full capacity, but it is recommended to top charge them at least every 2-3 months to prolong their shelf life. Proper storage in a cool, dry place (75°F/23°C or less) is also important.

Before purchasing, ensure the replacement battery matches your original in physical dimensions, voltage, and amperage. Additionally, check the battery terminals, as they can be flat connectors, nut and bolt, or wires, and their sizes may vary.
